Vortex; cover, cost and conditions
Vortex is the name under which our data lists a family of small inflatables and rigid inflatables built between 2003 and 2018. We have not found reliable information on where the maker is based or on its history, so this page keeps to what the range shows. Every model starts with Blue, followed by the version, such as Airdeck, Honey Bee, Polywood, Heavy Duty, Highjacket or Rib, and a three digit number that gives the length in centimetres. A Blue Polywood 310 is therefore 3.1 metres long.
Our model records list 25 Vortex models, 19 inflatables and six rigid inflatables, with model years from 2003 to 2018 and none still in production. Lengths range from 2.3 to 4.5 metres, with half of them between 2.65 and 3.3 metres. Blue Airdeck comes in five sizes from 2.3 to 3.1 metres, Blue Honey Bee and Blue Polywood in five sizes each from 2.45 to 3.3 metres. Blue Heavy Duty is a little larger at 3.5 to 4.2 metres, joined by the Blue Highjacket 310. The six Blue Rib models, built from 2003 to 2012, run from the Rib 250 at 2.5 metres to the Rib 450 at 4.5 metres.
Most of these boats live as tenders on a yacht's foredeck or davits, or travel to the lake in the boot of a car. Value comes down to the tubes and seams, the floor, and the outboard, which on a small tender is often worth more than the boat. A RIB with a sound hull and fresh tubes holds its value better than a soft floor inflatable.
