Wajer Yachts B.V.; cover, cost and conditions

Wajer Yachts comes from Heeg in Friesland in the north of the Netherlands, where Dorus Wajer founded the yard in 1992. His first boat was the Captain's Launch, a seven metre open sloep known in Dutch as the Kapiteinssloep. From there grew a range of fast motor yachts, built at sites in Heeg, Lemmer and Heerenveen; his son Dries took over as CEO in 2017. Suffixes mark the versions: HT for a hardtop, while S and L denote further variants of the same size.

Our model records list 14 Wajer designs, 13 motor yachts and one motorboat. Twelve carry a number: the Wajer 34, 37, 38, 38 L, 38 S, 44, 44 HT, 44 S, 55, 55 HT, 55 S and 77. The two Kapiteinssloep models, 7m Comfort and 8m Comfort, complete the list. The 8m Comfort opens it in 2000 and is the only line to end, in 2022; the other 13 are recorded into the latest build years. Lengths run from the 7.2 metre Kapiteinssloep 7m Comfort to the 23.5 metre Wajer 77.

The sloeps belong on Dutch canals, Frisian lakes and Amsterdam's grachten, light enough to trail and simple to keep. The larger Wajers are day and weekend boats for open coasts, with fast hulls and big engines that want regular servicing. Teak decks and upholstery last longer under a tarpaulin, and a winter in a heated shed keeps the finish as it left the yard.
