Around the turn of the year cold fronts off the North Atlantic reinforce them, and 25 knots and more can stand for days. A north swell runs down at the same time, setting north facing bays rolling and making anchorages uncomfortable. Barbuda lies some 30 miles further north, low and ringed by reefs, a number of which are not on the chart. Go in with a high sun.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from November to April and berths sit in the top price band: English Harbour, Falmouth Harbour and Jolly Harbour are sought after addresses, while anchoring in the same bays costs far less. Hurricane season runs from June to November. Most boats come ashore for it into a welded, tied down cradle, or move well south. Either way it is booked early, because yard space is finite.
