Alucat; cover, cost and conditions
Alucat Catamarans Oy is a Finnish family business from Ylöjärvi, near Tampere, developing catamarans since 2003. Its boats are built in aluminium on a patented hull that, the yard says, needs little energy, and every boat is described as fully recyclable. Alucats work for rescue services, security teams and transport operators as well as for private owners. Twin aluminium hulls, a wide stable deck and shallow draft are the signature, summed up by the yard as SAFE: stability, area, flexibility, economy.
Our model records list five Alucat models, all power catamarans of the W range: the W8 at 4.7 m, the W10 at 5.9 m, the W14 at 6.9 m, the W18 at 8.53 m and the W25 at 10.2 m. The W14 and W18 are recorded from 2015, the W8, W10 and W25 from 2017, and all five run into the latest build years. The number after the W grows with the boat but is not its length.
Aluminium twin hulls shrug off beaching and rocky shores, which suits archipelagos and shallow lakes. The W8 and W10 are trailer boats; the larger ones stay on a mooring. Check anodes, welds and the isolation of fittings regularly to prevent galvanic corrosion, especially in salt water.
