Alva Yachts is a German brand founded in 2020 by Mathias May and Holger Henn. It grew out of PICA Yachts, a company dating from 2013. May ran the business while Henn led the design of exteriors and interiors. Alva builds only yachts with solar electric drive, prepared for hydrogen as well, and worked with Volkswagen and Fischer Panda on the technology. Construction takes place at a yard in Antalya on the southern coast of Turkey. The Ocean Eco catamarans are recognised by their solar panels, which feed part of the energy for the electric motors. The brand names recycled metal among its materials and tested cork decks and flax composites. In 2024 Alva entered insolvency proceedings.
