AP Yacht Conception is based in Marans, in the Charente-Maritime department on France's Atlantic side, and was registered in April 2010. It belongs to the Catana Group, known above all for the Catana and Bali sailing catamarans, which also runs the YOT and Seaty brands. YOT is the group's power catamaran line. Work on it began in 2020, with the design office JnJ Design teaming up with an in-house team drawn from the motorboat world. The stated aim was not a sailing cat with engines bolted on, but a boat conceived around how powerboats are actually used. The Yot 36 stands out for its narrow build: under four metres wide, slim for a power catamaran of this length.

The first boat was shown to the public at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2023. Below deck there are two cabins and two heads, and the boat is rated for up to ten people. Power comes from twin Mercury outboards of 225 or 300 hp each, and the tanks carry 1,150 litres of fuel and 300 litres of water. A draught of 0.93 metres lets her reach shallow anchorages.
