Aquila power catamarans come from a partnership: the Sino Eagle Group builds them in a dedicated Aquila composite plant in Hangzhou, China, and MarineMax handles worldwide distribution and sales. The venture began in 2012, partly with charter fleets in the Caribbean in mind. The boats share two hulls, a wide deck and a large single level saloon, and the Aquila 36 was the first model in the range with outboards. The number tracks the length in feet.
Our model records hold eight Aquila designs, all power catamarans: the 32, 36, 38, 44, 48, 50Y, 54 and 70. The 38 opens in 2012, the 44 and 48 follow in 2013, the 36 in 2014, the 32, 54 and 70 in 2017 and the 50Y in 2022. The 38 ends in 2018 and the 48 in 2020, and five models run into the most recent build years. Lengths go from the 9.93 metre Aquila 32 to the 21.26 metre Aquila 70.
A power catamaran needs a wide berth, which in many marinas means an end pontoon or a special slip. In return it sits flat at anchor and gives a lot of living space for its length. Two engines mean two sets of service intervals, and in tropical waters regular antifouling and a check of the through hulls keep both hulls clean.
