Asia Catamarans builds at Ao Chalong on the Thai island of Phuket, close to the Phuket Yacht Club. The company was officially launched in 2013 as a partnership. Designer Alan Carwardine, previously Asia area manager for a British deck hardware firm, brought the designs, while Roger Diggelmann contributed his yard, Composite Yacht Constructions, and its workforce. Carwardine had launched his first Stealth, a 12c, in Brisbane in 2007, and he reworked the hull shape for the new yard because the early boats tended to pitch. The Stealth line is built in vacuum-infused epoxy with carbon in high-load areas and pared-back interiors to save weight, and the yard builds power catamarans as well as sailing ones.

Our model records hold seven designs between 11 and 14.3 metres, all named Stealth. Four are sailing catamarans: the Stealth 12 S at 11.89 metres from 2014, the 13 S/C at 12.75 metres from 2015, the 14 GT at 13.8 metres from 2016 and the 13 C at 13 metres from 2018. Two are power catamarans, the Stealth 44 at 13.6 metres, built from 2015 to 2021, and the Stealth 47 at 14.3 metres from 2016, the largest design. The Stealth 36 at 11 metres is listed as a motor yacht. Six of the seven reach the most recent build years; only the 44 has ended.

Light catamarans reward owners who keep weight off. Every extra tank, generator or box of spares costs speed and bridgedeck clearance, so a used Stealth is worth comparing with its original specification. Epoxy and carbon laminates are stiff and durable but need proper repair methods, so check that any past damage was fixed with matching materials. Look at the rudder bearings, the keel or daggerboard areas, the chainplates and the underside of the bridgedeck for slamming marks. Boats built and sailed in the tropics have often seen years of strong sun, so hatches, sealants and deck gear deserve a close look too.
