Aspen Power Catamarans; cover, cost and conditions
Aspen Power Catamarans builds in Burlington, Washington, and was founded by designer Larry Graf, who had earlier started Glacier Bay Catamarans. The signature is Graf's patented asymmetric proa hull: the port hull is much narrower than the starboard one, and a single diesel in the starboard hull drives the boat. That cuts drag and saves fuel while keeping the steady ride of two hulls. The C90 was the first production model, shown at the Seattle Boat Show.
Our model records list 13 Aspen designs: eleven power catamarans, one motor yacht (the Aspen 39) and one motorboat (the K90). The C range forms the core with seven models: C90 Cruiser, C100, C105, C107, C108, C120 and C150. The L90 LX, L107, 28 F-90 Fishing and 38 C-111 complete the list. Recorded build years start in 2007, and seven lines run into the latest years. Lengths range from the 8.53 metre 28 F-90 Fishing to the 14.62 metre C150.
Pacific Northwest waters shaped these boats: long passages between islands, cold water, tidal currents and fuel docks far apart. A cat needs a wider berth than a monohull of the same length, so check marina slips before you buy. With one engine there is one service schedule, and keeping the narrow hull's bilge dry is part of the routine.

As the Aspen C90 Cruiser, Aspen C100,
Aspen C107 by Aspen Power Catamarans and 4 more series are still in production,
parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the Aspen C150, Aspen C105,
Aspen 28 F-90 Fishing by Aspen Power Catamarans and 3 more series the market value and the
replacement cost often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Aspen C90 Cruiser, Aspen C100, Aspen C107 by Aspen Power Catamarans and further series:
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part,
and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
For the Aspen K90 by Aspen Power Catamarans series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the Aspen 39 by Aspen Power Catamarans series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
