Worth knowing
AZ Boat Ltd.; cover, cost and conditions
AZ Boat is based at Bořitov in the Blansko district of the Czech Republic, in southern Moravia and a long way from any coast. The house carries small boats: motorboats, cabin boats, angling boats, electric boats, tenders and inflatables together with engines. That location explains the range better than any description: these are boats for rivers, reservoirs and lakes, where there is no harbour and no crane and a boat has to go from the trailer into the water. You recognise the solid hulled models by the simple flat hull with its wide transom and low freeboard.
Our model records list 45 models of this brand, 36 of them motorboats and nine soft inflatables. Build years start in 2014 and run into current production. Forty five series are recorded. The inflatables are numbered and carry the AZ suffix: 200, 235, 250, 270, 290, 320, 360, 380 and 420. The boats with a solid hull carry names: Aneta 400 and 400 L, Bára 500, Nell 400, Relax 500 and Gale 545 and 560. Lengths run from 2 to 7.1 metres, half the models between 3.7 and 5.1 metres. The number gives the length in centimetres.
Inland boating shapes a boat in ways coastal boating does not. There is rarely a crane, so the boat has to be light enough for a trailer and a slipway; there is rarely a marina, so it spends the season either on the water without shore power or at home in a yard. Everything about a range like this follows from those two facts.
