Worth knowing
Aquador; cover, cost and conditions
Aquador builds hardtop and daycruiser boats in Finland between 6.5 and 10.5 metres, enclosed wheelhouses for use in cold weather, with diesel inboards or outboards. The boats are used all year round and often lie with a heater on board during the cold half of the year. On-board heaters are a source of loss in their own right: diesel heaters with exhaust routing through the hull have to be installed properly, otherwise a fire is not a question of whether.
On a hardtop boat the superstructure is an additional focus of damage. The wheelhouse is tall and catches the wind, and during craning and in winter storage it is the place where storm damage takes hold. Storm from wind force 8 upwards is covered under the limited hull cover, including in winter storage ashore. This requires proper shoring: a boat standing on too few supports has not lost its claim in a storm, but it does carry a markedly higher risk.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is my boat insured in winter storage ashore?
Yes, winter storage and time ashore at a berth customary for yachts are included, along with craning and shoring. Storm damage from wind force 8 upwards is covered there as well.

Series by Aquador, with value and cover
Aquador 23 / 25 HT is a motorboat from Aquador, built since 2005, and today changes hands at between €60,000 and €180,000.
Aquador 27 / 30 HT is a motor yacht from Aquador, built since 2008, and today changes hands at between €120,000 and €320,000.
Aquador 32 / 35 C is a motor yacht from Aquador, built since 2010, and today changes hands at between €180,000 and €450,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
