Crevalle Boats; cover, cost and conditions
Crevalle Boats is a brand of Littoral Marine in Wildwood, Florida. It was formed in 2013 by Nick Engels, vice president and chief designer, together with Chad Jaros and founding partners Winston Bailey and Hugh Dailey. Engels set out to build boats that would please anglers and families alike, and the brand entered the market with two bay boats, the 23 Bay and the 25 Bay. A bay boat is an open, shallow-draft motorboat made for the bays, lagoons and river mouths found all along the Florida coast. Crevalle builds its hulls with a resin infusion process it calls CRIMP, meant to keep the ratio of fibre to resin even through the whole structure, and every part is made in climate-controlled halls so that resins and paints cure evenly. With the 33 CSF the yard carried the traits of its 24 to 26 foot boats over to a larger deck for bigger groups and longer runs offshore.
Our model records list four Crevalle designs, all motorboats and all recorded from build year 2019. None has been dropped; all four reach into the most recent build years. The smallest is the Crevalle 24 HCO at 7.08 metres. Two boats of the same length follow at 7.68 metres, the 26 HBW and the 26 HCO, which differ only in the letters at the end. At the top sits the Crevalle 33 CSF at 9.96 metres, just short of ten. The range therefore runs from 7.1 to 10 metres. The first two models of the brand, the 23 Bay and 25 Bay, do not appear separately in our records, which start with the generation from 2019 onwards. A used Crevalle is therefore always a young boat.
Bay boats work hard, and the wear shows in predictable places. Look at the transom and the outboard bracket for stress cracks, check the hinges and gaskets of the many hatches and livewells, and make sure the bilge pumps and livewell pumps still run as they should. Shallow flats mean the occasional brush with sand or oyster beds, so inspect the keel strip and the lower unit of the outboard. Most of these boats spend their lives on a road trailer, so the trailer's bearings, brakes and rollers deserve as much attention as the hull. On a boat this young, ask for the engine hours, the service log and any remaining builder warranty paperwork.
