EagleCraft builds in Campbell River on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Founded in 1985, the yard first made its name with water taxis and builds welded aluminium boats for leisure, commercial and government use: sport fishing lodge boats, passenger and work boats, patrol boats. According to the builder, the hull form and structure of its 42 Cruiser come from its Response class boats for government agencies. EagleCraft names are plain: the length in feet and the type, Cruiser for the cabin boat and Landing Craft for the beach landing boat.
Our records list ten models, all motorboats, all built from 2019 into the most recent years. Five are Cruisers of 31, 36, 38, 40 and 43 feet, five are Landing Craft of 32, 36, 43 and 46 feet, the 36 also offered as a Hybrid Landing Craft. Aluminium suits the coast of British Columbia: it shrugs off drifting logs and rocky landings and needs no gelcoat repair. It does need care against galvanic corrosion, so anodes must be checked and replaced, and stray current in a marina is worth testing for. A landing craft runs its bow onto a beach to load gear or people, which makes the ramp, its hinges and seals a regular inspection item.
