Falke; cover, cost and conditions
Our records list nothing but cabin sailing catamarans under the Falke name, plus two types carrying the short label F. The naming is simple. In the Falke line the number is roughly the length in metres, from the Falke 6 to the Falke 16, and the L in Falke 10 L marks a stretched version. Two hulls, a fixed cabin and a name that gives away the size: that is how you spot one. We hold no reliable details on the yard's location or history, so this page sticks to the recorded models.
Eight catamarans appear in our records: Falke 6, 8, 10, 10 L, 12 and 16, plus the F 11 and F 14. The Falke 6 and 8 open the list in 1975, and the Falke 10, the longest running model, is the last to end, in 1991. The 12 and 16 joined in 1980, and both F types ran from 1981 to 1988. Lengths go from 6.5 metres for the Falke 6 to 16.3 metres for the Falke 16, with the 8 at 8.6, the 10 at 10.3, the 10 L at 10.8, the F 11 at 11, the 12 at 12.8 and the F 14 at 14 metres.
Every Falke is now more than thirty years old, so beam connections, chainplates and the bridgedeck structure deserve a close look. A catamaran needs a wider berth than a monohull of the same length, and many marinas charge for it, which is why owners often look for an end pontoon or a mooring. The smaller boats can still be moved by road, and their shallow draft opens up anchorages a keelboat cannot reach.

On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part,
and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
