FORMATsystem; cover, cost and conditions
FORMATsystem, also written Format System, builds sailing catamarans designed by Jürgen Peter, who has drawn and built multihulls since 1984. His aim is simple, quick and practical cats at a manageable size, and nearly every model follows the semi-open layout the yard treats as its signature. Since 1998 the boats have been built in Eastern Europe, today in a Polish factory using hand lay-up under vacuum. The names reveal two generations: early boats carry numbers such as 26, 30, 33 and 36, close to their length in feet, while later ones use four digits like 1070 or 1360 that give the length in centimetres.
Our records list 16 FORMATsystem models, all sailing catamarans. Six belong to the early generation starting in 1992, the Format 26, 30, 33, 36, 700 and 900, with last build years between 2000 and 2005. Ten models start between 2006 and 2010, among them the Format 400 Cabrio from 2006, the F 1020 from 2008 and the Format 1360 from 2009, and four lines run until 2017. Lengths go from 7.11 metres for the Format 700 to 13.6 metres for the Format 1360, and 13 of the 16 models fall between 9 and 12 metres.
A catamaran's beam is the first thing to plan around. Many marinas have only a few wide berths or charge extra for them, so a mooring buoy or an end-of-pontoon spot is often the practical answer. The semi-open saloon makes these boats pleasant to live on in summer, and a good cockpit enclosure stretches the season into spring and autumn. Smaller models such as the Format 700 and 26 are far simpler to move by road than the twelve-metre boats, which usually come out by crane.

For the F 102c, F 1020, Format 108c by FORMATsystem and 12 more series the market value and the
replacement cost often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Format 36 by FORMATsystem series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the F 102c, F 1020, Format 108c by FORMATsystem and further series:
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part,
and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
