Worth knowing
Harris; cover, cost and conditions
Three ranges are documented for Harris: the motor yacht Catamaran MY 85 from 1967 to 1993 as well as the cabin catamarans Sun God 50 and Galaxy 78. At the start of every policy stands third-party liability, selectable with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in three tariff levels.
Production extended over more than two decades and ended at the beginning of the nineties. All the boats are second-hand boats today, which does not restrict the cover: full hull cover works with an agreed value, in the Premium tariff without any age limit.
A multihull lies wide at the jetty and is handled differently from a monohull during craning. The cover applies during craning, during launching, in transit and in winter storage, and full hull cover covers collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Which tariff levels are there in third-party liability?
Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. Depending on the level, the limit of indemnity lies between 10 and 50 million euros, and club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards.
How does the type of boat affect the premium?
The type of boat is one of the factors, alongside value, year of construction, engine power or sail area and cruising range. The brand and the model name play no part.

What matters for catamarans and multihulls is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Series by Harris, build years and cover
Catamaran MY 85 is a motor yacht from Harris, built from 1967 to 1993.
Sun God 50 is a cabin catamaran from Harris, built from 1977 to 1992.
Galaxy 78 is a cabin catamaran from Harris, built from 1980 to 1987.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
