Hysucat Hydrofoil Technology; cover, cost and conditions
Hysucat stands for Hydrofoil Supported Catamaran. The idea goes back to Professor Gunter Hoppe of Stellenbosch University in South Africa. A foil mounted between the two hulls lifts part of the boat's weight once she is moving, so the hulls rise partly out of the water and wetted area and drag fall. Unlike a true hydrofoil craft, the foil does not carry the whole boat. Production of the boats began in 1997. The system is used on catamarans and RIBs, which is how you spot one: twin slim hulls or an inflatable collar with a wing underneath.
Our model records hold seven Hysucat entries: three power catamarans, two RIBs and two motor yachts. The catamarans are the Hysucat 210 basic, the 25 Sport Fisher and the 30 Sportfisher; the RIBs are the Hysucat 23 and the 28 RIB. The Hysucat 35 appears twice as a motor yacht, at 10.5 and at 12.6 metres. The 210 basic is the oldest, built from 1997 to 2003. The other lines start in 2015, the 35 in 2018; the 25 Sport Fisher ends in 2021 and the rest run to the latest build years. Lengths go from 6.8 metres (Hysucat 23) to 12.6 metres (Hysucat 35).
Many of these boats are bought for fishing and fast coastal runs. The foil sits below the hulls, so shallow launch sites and beaching call for care, and a look at the foil and its mountings belongs to every haul-out. The smaller models travel on a trailer; the 35 lives on a berth.

For the Hysucat 23, Hysucat 28 RIB by Hysucat Hydrofoil Technology series:
On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered,
porous fabric after years in the sun is not.
The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
For the Hysucat 30 Sportfisher, Hysucat 25 Sport Fisher,
Hysucat 210 basic by Hysucat Hydrofoil Technology series:
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part,
and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
For the Hysucat 35 by Hysucat Hydrofoil Technology series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
