Inclusive Sailing is a Portuguese venture with a clear aim: to let wheelchair users go sailing without having to be lifted aboard. Its founder, naval engineer Frederico Cerveira, designed the Inclusion Catamaran on the principles of universal design, meaning the boat should work for everyone regardless of age or physical limitation. You recognise it by the wide, level deck and by purpose-made doors through which a wheelchair can roll aboard with no crane involved. Steering and sail handling use adapted systems. The rig is a Bermuda sloop, and each hull has room for stowage and berths.
