Invincible Boat Company builds offshore fishing boats in Opa-locka, Florida. The yard made its name with a stepped hull drawn by naval architect Michael Peters and protected by a patent. A line of centre console catamarans followed, based on a semi-asymmetric hull concept from Morrelli & Melvin. The boats are built to run fast to the offshore fishing grounds, with a big cockpit around the console. The names tell you length in feet and type: Open Fisherman for the monohulls, Catamaran and Pilothouse for the twin hulls.
Our records list ten Invincible models, six power catamarans and four monohull motorboats. The Open Fisherman line includes the 33, 36, 39 and 43 at 10 to 13 metres. The catamarans come as 33, 35, 37, 40 and 46 footers at 10.3 to 14 metres, plus the 46' Pilothouse with an enclosed helm, also 14 metres. Seven of the ten exceed eleven metres. The 39' Open Fisherman appears from 2018, the rest from 2019, and all ten run into the latest build years.
Boats this size usually live on a lift, in a dry stack or on a marina berth close to the inlet. Several large outboards on the transom mean regular engine service, flushing after every run in salt water and an eye on wiring and fuel lines. The catamarans give a level ride in a head sea, the stepped monohulls more speed on calm days.
