Lillebror Marine comes from the Netherlands and builds small motorboats with electric or hybrid drive. Lillebror is Swedish for little brother, a fitting name for a family of compact boats. The builder describes the Lillebror 78 as a plug-in hybrid tender in sloep style: a lithium battery pack drives it electrically, and for longer runs it can switch to diesel. For the larger LB 85 Targa, which does not appear in our model records, sales listings mention a hull of 5 mm aluminium with each side formed from a single piece, a 10 kW electric motor, a 15 kWh lithium battery and solar panels on deck. Quiet running and very few visible weld seams are what people notice first.
Our model records list four designs, all motorboats: the Lillebror 60, 65, 70 and 78. All four start in 2019 and run into the most recent build years, so the range is young and entirely current. The model number follows the length in decimetres: the 60 measures 5.9 metres, the 65 is 6.5 metres, the 70 exactly seven metres and the 78 is 7.8 metres. The whole family therefore sits between just under six and just under eight metres, closely stepped, with each size adding between half a metre and nearly a full metre. There are no older build years in our records; every boat of the brand dates from 2019 onwards.
Electric boats need a different kind of care from petrol ones. The battery is the heart of the boat: ask for its age, how it has been charged and whether the management system has logged any faults. Shore power connections, the charger and the cabling should be dry and free of green corrosion at the terminals. On the hybrid 78, the diesel side still needs its usual service, even if it runs only a few hours a year. Where the hull is aluminium, as on the LB 85, stray current in a marina is the thing to watch, so anodes should be checked and replaced in good time. With boats this young, the builder's documentation and any software updates for the drive belong in a sensible purchase check.
