Marine s.r.o. (Marine 10 Jon) builds light aluminium boats in the Czech Republic. The works are at Nové Město nad Metují in the north east of the country and have been building since the early 1990s. The range is organised by use: general purpose boats, fishing boats, workboats, jon boats and craft for police and rescue services. Hulls are made from a corrosion resistant aluminium alloy that the yard describes as coming from aircraft construction and as harder than the material normally used in boats.

Our model records list 91 Marine s.r.o. (Marine 10 Jon) models, all of them motorboats. Build years start in 1990 and run into current production. Sixty series are recorded: the Jon boats from 10 to 16, the M range from 10 to 14, the R range from 12 upwards, numbered models such as the 370 S and 370 U and the Bass models from 400. Lengths run from 3 to 6 metres, with half the models between 4 and 5 metres.

A jon boat is recognisable by its flat bottom and cut off bow. It sits very still on the water and is light enough for two people to lift from a car roof, which is the whole point of the type. On a thin walled aluminium hull the wear pattern is dents and opened seams rather than cracks, and most of that damage happens ashore rather than afloat.
