Modesty Boats builds open sports boats and small cabin boats for day trips, watersports and fishing. In our records the range starts in 2010 and runs into the latest build years. Two numbering schemes mark two generations. Older models carry two digits close to the length in feet, such as the 4.8 metre Modesty 16 GP or the 8.35 metre 27,5 WA. Newer ones carry three digits close to the length in centimetres: the 480 CC measures 4.8 metres and the 680 BC 6.8. A suffix such as CC, WA, BC, GP or DC gives the layout.
Our model records list twelve Modesty designs, eleven motorboats and one motor yacht, the 10.2 metre 33 Sport Cruiser. Seven belong to the older generation (16 GP, 22 BC, 22 DC, 22 GP, 26 WA, 27,5 WA and 33 Sport Cruiser), recorded between 2010 and 2019, with the 22 DC ending in 2015. Five make up the newer generation (480 CC, 650 CC, 680 BC, 840 CC and 840 WA), all from 2016 into the latest build years. The new lengths match older ones exactly: 4.8 metres for the 16 GP and 480 CC, 6.55 for the 22 DC and 650 CC, 6.8 for the 22 BC and 680 BC, 8.35 for the 27,5 WA and both 840s.
The smaller Modesty boats up to 6.8 metres tow well and suit owners who slip at a different spot each weekend, whether for fishing, waterskiing or a swim in a quiet bay. The 8.35 metre boats and the 33 Sport Cruiser are better kept on a berth. Open boats collect rain and leaves, so a fitted canvas and a working bilge pump matter. An outboard on a hard working sports boat deserves a service every season and a freshwater flush after salt water.
