Mossig appears in our records with a programme of sports and cabin boats whose names are plainly German: Sportboot, Kajütboot, Allroundboot, and one model simply called Lindau. We found no reliable source on where the yard was based or how it began, so this page sticks to what the model records show. The boats are easy to place by the GT tag and by numbers that track length closely. The Sportboot 440 is 4.4 metres long, the 504 about 5.1 metres, the GT 600 5.87 metres and the GT 700 6.7 metres.
Our records list 13 Mossig models, twelve motorboats and one motor yacht. Seven carry the GT tag, including the GT 600 and GT 700 in both sports and cabin form and the DC GT 700. Build years start in 1965 with the Daycruiser V 6 and the Lindau and end in 1996 with the GT 700 and the GT 1300. Nine models stop by 1979, the Moby Dick runs to 1983 and the DC GT 700 to 1987. Lengths range from the 4.4 metre Sportboot 440 to the 12.85 metre GT 1300.
Every Mossig is now at least thirty years old, so condition matters more than any brochure figure. Most are small enough to live on a trailer and launch at a lakeside slipway, which keeps the hull dry over winter. Check the transom and the engine mounting, renew old fuel lines, and give the gelcoat a season under a roof. The GT 1300 is a different animal: a berth boat that needs a proper mooring and regular haul-outs.
