Onda Ribs; cover, cost and conditions
Onda Tenders is an Athens-based yard building chase boats and tenders for superyachts, the fast craft that carry guests and kit between yacht and shore. George Riginos runs the company. Exterior styling comes from the Mannerfelt Design Team in Sweden, while in-house engineers handle the structure. Hulls are laid up in vinylester GRP and the hard top is multi-axial carbon fibre to keep weight down. The 371 GT rides on a deep-vee hull with two ventilated steps. The letters after the number identify an Onda: GT for Grand Turismo, P for Patrol and L for Limousine.
Our model records list four designs, all rigid inflatables. The Onda 341 P at 9.6 metres starts in 2014. The 321 L and the 331 GT, each 9.9 metres, followed in 2016. The 371 GT is the largest at 11.1 metres and runs from 2019 to 2024; the yard built it as a larger version of the 331 GT on a stretched hull. Three of the four lines, the 321 L, 331 GT and 341 P, reach the most recent build years. Every model sits between 9.6 and 11.1 metres, well beyond the size of an ordinary yacht dinghy.
A tender works hard: many short runs, frequent mooring alongside a larger hull and long hours in the sun. On a used Onda, look at the tubes for abrasion and seam wear where they meet the mother ship, and at the fender points. The stepped hull should be checked for impact marks along the steps and the keel. Carbon hard tops are light but should be free of cracks around fixings. Engine hours climb fast on a working tender, so service records count. Upholstery and teak on a guest boat age quickly in strong sun.
