Ribcraft is a British builder of rigid inflatable boats based in Yeovil, Somerset. The yard builds RIBs only: a solid hull with an inflatable tube on top. You can tell a Ribcraft by its practical layout, with a centre console, jockey seats and a deep V hull made for choppy coastal water. The names follow two systems. The current range gives the length in metres with a decimal point, from the Ribcraft 4.2 to the 12.5, while the older Sport range uses three digits for the length in decimetres, so the 640 Sport is 6.4 metres long.

Our model records list 18 Ribcraft designs, all RIBs. The 585 Sport has the earliest build year, 1992, and nine lines run into the most recent years. Eleven models belong to the metric range, six to the Sport range, which ends between 2014 and 2020, and the 850 Adventure is recorded from 2008 to 2022. Lengths run from 4.2 metres (Ribcraft 4.2) to 12.5 metres (Ribcraft 12.5); eight boats measure up to 6.4 metres and four reach nine metres or more.

Small Ribcraft boats are trailer and slipway boats, launched for a day of diving, fishing or island hopping and washed down afterwards. The tubes like shade and a gentle wash, and a hood over the console keeps the electronics dry. The larger models from nine metres usually stay on a pontoon and run fast offshore with big outboards, so engine servicing and tube pressure checks are part of every season.
