Worth knowing
Rock; cover, cost and conditions
Two ranges are recorded, the Tradewind 33 from 1974 to 1990 and the Tradewind 39 from 1977 to 1986. No further details about the yard are available. They are listed as sailing yachts, and so in the premium calculation the sail area takes the place of the engine power.
Alongside the sail area, type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range count. The brand has no influence. If the yacht is sailed in club races, that is included from Basis-Plus upwards; races with scoring status you state when taking out the contract.
For yachts with construction years from the seventies the agreed value applies, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff without any age limit. Third-party liability can be chosen with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Why is no engine power applied to a Tradewind 39?
With sailing yachts the sail area is the calculation figure, with motor boats the engine power. Added to this are type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range, from which the premium results.
What happens in the event of a grounding?
Grounding is covered under full hull cover, as are collision, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard. Compensation is paid according to the agreed value that has been set.

Series by Rock, build years and cover
Tradewind 33 is a sailing yacht from Rock, built from 1974 to 1990.
Tradewind 39 is a sailing yacht from Rock, built from 1977 to 1986.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
