Nordship Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Nordship builds deck saloon yachts of between 11 and 15 metres in Denmark, yachts with a saloon at deck level, high-quality solid wood joinery and the workmanship typical of Danish yards. They are cruising yachts for the Baltic and beyond, built in small numbers.
The deck saloon brings with it one point that aft-cockpit yachts do not have: large window areas. They are the most vulnerable place in hail and when green water comes over the deck, and a broken window at sea is an event that quickly leads to water ingress. Hail is covered by limited hull cover, water ingress and sinking only by full hull cover. On a deck saloon yacht, having storm shutters on board is not superfluous.

For the Nordship 32 / 34 by Nordship series the market value and the replacement cost often differ
widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
As the Nordship 40 DS, Nordship 380 DS / 430 DS and Nordship 570 DS by Nordship series are still
in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the Nordship 27 / 30 by Nordship series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Nordship 32 / 34, Nordship 40 DS, Nordship 27 / 30 by Nordship and further series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
