Nautor Swan builds sailing yachts between 12 and 40 metres in Finland, the cruising models in the classic Swan line, the ClubSwan range as pure racing yachts in carbon. Swan yachts hold their value like hardly any other brand, which for the insurance means: current value logic leads to grotesque results here, the agreed value is a must.
On the carbon models the material surcharge applies, and for racing use an express agreement is needed. The most frequent claim in competition is rig damage: a dismasting from material failure or from operating error. Standing rigging is a wear part and no hull insurance is a replacement for wear, but a dismasting caused by an event is covered. With a carbon rig, the yard's shroud inspection interval must be observed and documented.
