Worth knowing
Moody Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Moody built cruising yachts in England and today, within the Hanse Group, runs the deck saloon range, DS models between 12 and 15 metres with a saloon at deck level and all-round visibility. The older English Moodys between 10 and 12 metres are solid cruising yachts with a good reputation.
Two generations, two focal points. On the older English yachts, the rig, keel bolts and osmosis should be checked; osmosis is covered in the Premium tariff for boats up to an age of 48 months. On the current DS models, the large saloon superstructure is the surface exposed to the wind in winter storage and during craning; storm from wind force 8 is covered, on land as well, provided the boat is properly cradled.

For the Moody 376 / 425 (classic) and Moody 33 / 38 by Moody series the market value and the
replacement cost often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Moody 27 / 31 (classic) by Moody series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
As the Moody 41 / 45 DS, Moody 54 DS / 62 DS and Moody DS41 / DS48 Decksaloon by Moody series are
still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the Moody 376 / 425 (classic), Moody 33 / 38, Moody 41 / 45 DS by Moody and further series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For the Moody 27 / 31 (classic) by Moody series:
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides.
A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
