Worth knowing
LM Glasfiber; cover, cost and conditions
From the sixties into the nineties, LM (LM Vitesse 33) built motor sailers between 7 and 9 metres in Denmark, compact yachts with a wheelhouse and a powerful engine, widely used as family boats in Denmark and northern Germany. They are comfortable, seaworthy boats with a long service life.
With a motor sailer both drives count towards the premium: sail area and engine output. On LM (LM Vitesse 33) boats the engine is often an old Sabb or Bukh diesel, still working, but spare parts are becoming scarce. For the agreed value this means that the replacement value of a comparable yacht is the yardstick, not the current market value. On these boats an engine replacement easily costs a third of the value of the boat.
