Worth knowing
Italia Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Italia Yachts builds performance cruising yachts between 10 and 15 metres in Chioggia, vacuum infusion hulls with carbon reinforcement, twin rudders and a large sail area. These are yachts built for speed and sailed both in races and on passage.
Carbon is insurable with us against a surcharge, because repairs are structural work. With twin rudder systems a second point is added: the rudder blades sit on the outside and deep down, and in the event of grounding or contact with floating debris they are the first thing to break. Full hull cover covers this including consequential damage to the bearing and the shaft. And racing use requires an express agreement, so report it before the season.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Are twin rudders covered in the event of grounding?
For Italia Yachts: Under full hull cover yes,
including consequential damage to the bearing and the shaft.
With twin rudder systems the blades are the most exposed component under the hull.

Series by Italia Yachts, with value and cover
Italia 11.98 / 12.98 is a sailing yacht from Italia Yachts (Italy), built since 2014,
and today changes hands at between €320,000 and €780,000.
Also a sailing yacht, built since 2016, €600,000 to €1,400,000.
Also a sailing yacht, built since 2010, €190,000 to €690,000.
As the Italia 11.98 / 12.98, Italia 14.98 / 15.98 and Italia 9.98 by Italia Yachts series are
still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the Italia 11.98 / 12.98, Italia 14.98 / 15.98, Italia 9.98 by Italia Yachts series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
