Rosättra Batvarv AB; cover, cost and conditions

Rosättra Båtvarv sits near Norrtälje, north of Stockholm, and was founded in 1886, which places it among the oldest yards in Sweden. Two families have run it across five generations, today the Gustafssons. Under the Linjett name, Rosättra has built sailing yachts for close to fifty years. The yard keeps most of the work in house: development, design, the composite shop, production and after sales all sit under one roof. That fits its own stated approach of building on a small scale and only what it believes in.

Our model records list six Linjett designs, all of them sailing yachts. The oldest is the Linjett 30 at 8.95 metres, listed from 1970 to 1982. The Linjett 32 at 9.48 metres runs from 1975 to 2006, the Linjett 35 at 10.8 metres from 1986 to 2009 and the Linjett 33 at 10.01 metres from 1991 to 2013. Later came the Linjett 40 at 12.35 metres, listed from 1999 to 2016, and the Linjett 37 at 11.45 metres from 2004 to 2024. The 37 therefore has the most recent entry, though no line is recorded into the very latest build years. Some designs stayed in production for a remarkably long time: the Linjett 32 was offered for roughly three decades.

The spread of build years is what matters most when looking at a Linjett. A boat from the seventies and one from the final years of a line may share a pontoon, and they need different checks. On older hulls, look at the deck core around fittings, the keel bolts and the age of the standing rigging. Later boats bring more systems, so electronics, heating and the engine installation deserve time. Many Linjetts have spent their lives in the Stockholm archipelago, where rocks lie close to the surface, so a look at the front edge of the keel and the hull around it is sensible. A yard that still exists and knows its own boats is a help when parts or advice are needed.
