Worth knowing
Row & Sail GmbH; cover, cost and conditions
XCat Basic, XCat Row and XCat Sail have been in the programme since 2013 and 2014 respectively and are built to this day, two of them as open catamarans, one as a cabin catamaran. Boats of this design are transported rather than left permanently at a berth, and transit is covered as well.
There is also cover during launching, during craning and in winter storage. A boat trailer is included in the boat insurance at no extra premium, and a separate contract is not needed for it. Damage in winter storage is already taken on by the limited hull cover. Fire, storm, lightning strike and the theft of the entire boat likewise.
For the premium the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area or engine power and cruising range count, never the brand. The third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros forms the basis, and the full hull cover adds collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is the transport to the sailing area covered?
Yes. Transit is part of it just as craning, launching and winter storage are. The boat trailer is included in the boat insurance at no extra premium.
How do an open and a cabin catamaran differ in the contract?
In the scope of cover they do not. The premium follows from the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area or engine power and cruising range, that is, from the data of the particular boat.

What matters for catamarans and multihulls is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repairs are predictable. Still, set the value at replacement cost, including sails, rigging or gear you bought later.
Open catamarans are beached and trailed, so most damage happens ashore and in transit, not on the water.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
