Sasga Yachts builds nothing but Menorquin yachts at Sant Lluís on Menorca. The model for them is the llaüt, the traditional Balearic fishing boat with its high bow. The story goes back to 1978, when Juan Sastre founded Astilleros Menorca; his first boats were called Conquistador and measured eight metres. A ten metre llaüt followed in 1985 and a 13 metre Menorquin yacht in 1997. Jose Luis Sastre took over in 2001, and in 2010 the Menorquin 42 marked the birth of the Sasga Yachts name. In the United States the yard sells under the name Minorca Yachts.
Our model records hold five designs, all motor yachts of the Menorquin line and all running into the most recent build years. The Menorquin 34 at ten metres appears from 2014. The Menorquin 42 is listed twice: once from 2014 at 13.2 metres and once from 2021 at 11.98 metres, same name, different length. The Menorquin 54 at 16.5 metres and the Menorquin 68 at 21.28 metres both start in 2015. The line therefore spans ten to just over 21 metres, and three of the five designs are longer than twelve metres.
The Menorquin type is about easy, unhurried cruising, often with long stays aboard in Mediterranean anchorages. That shapes what to look for on a used one. Where teak decks and wooden joinery are fitted, they need regular care against sun and salt. Engine hours on a boat used for long summers can add up quickly, so service records and the condition of shafts, stern glands and exhaust elbows matter.
