Seafaring Yachts is a Slovenian yard building motor yachts in the trawler style. It presented the Seafaring 44 in 2016 and followed it with the smaller Seafaring 34 in 2019. The thinking behind both is a boat that runs long distances on modest power and an efficient hull while offering plenty of living space. Hallmarks are a single diesel engine, an upright profile with large windows and, on request, solar panels on the roof. The 44 comes with two or three cabins for six to eight people and runs on a Volvo Penta or a 235 hp Steyr diesel. For the 34 the yard quotes a 320 hp Yanmar inboard, about 24 knots flat out, a 10 knot cruise and an optional hybrid drive.
Our model records list three designs, all classed as motor yachts: the Seafaring 34 at 10.8 metres and the Seafaring 44 Coupe and Seafaring 44 Flybridge at 14.39 metres each. The two versions of the 44 share hull and length; the Coupe has its helm inside the saloon, while the Flybridge adds an open upper helm on the roof. Our records list all three from build year 2016, the year the yard started with the 44, and all of them run into the most recent build years. The range is compact and entirely young, with no older second-hand boats of the brand. Between the 34 and the 44 there is a difference of just under 3.6 metres.
A trawler-style yacht lives on its systems. With a single engine, the shaft seal, cooling circuit and fuel filters deserve regular attention, and a spare impeller and filters on board are part of good practice for long passages. Solar panels and battery banks need checking for corrosion at the terminals. When looking at a used Seafaring, ask for the engine log and the service history of generator and hybrid components if fitted, inspect the flybridge for water ingress around hatches and seals, and test all electronics under way rather than at the dock.
