Sly Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Sly Yachts is recorded with four sailing yacht ranges: the Sly 42, the Sly 47 Cruiser, the Sly 47 Racer and the Sly 53. All four ranges begin in 2003, the last one ends in 2013. The fact that one range is listed as a Racer and one as a Cruiser does matter for the contract, because the use belongs in it.
Club races are included from the Basis-Plus tariff. Races with ranking status you state when taking out the policy, so that the contract reflects the actual use. This detail belongs in it from the outset; then in the event of a claim no question remains open as to whether the trip was covered.
For the premium, with sailing yachts the sail area counts instead of the engine power, plus the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. In full hull cover an agreed value is agreed, in the Premium tariff without an age limit and in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). The cover also applies in winter storage and during craning.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What applies to races with ranking status?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus. Races with ranking status you report when taking out the policy, so that they are expressly stated in the contract and the hull insurance cover applies there too.
Is a Racer version classified differently from a Cruiser?
For the premium the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range count, not the model designation. What also matters is whether you race and whether this has been reported.

What matters for sailing boats and sailing yachts is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.
Waters

Cruising range
The agreed cruising range is stated in the policy and can be extended at any time.
Weather
Check wind force in Beaufort and wind direction before casting off, and allow for gusts.
General guidance, not a complete account; what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and your boat’s manual. Current wind force and direction for your waters are shown on the Home.
Series by Sly Yachts, build years and cover
Sly 42 is a sailing yacht from Sly Yachts, built from 2003 to 2013.
Sly 47 Cruiser is a sailing yacht from Sly Yachts, built from 2003 to 2012.
Sly 53 is a sailing yacht from Sly Yachts, built from 2003 to 2011.
Sly 47 Racer is a sailing yacht from Sly Yachts, built from 2003 to 2007.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
