Style Jacht Kft. is a Hungarian sailing boat yard close to Lake Balaton, run by Imre Scholtz, who gives most of the models their name. The yard made its mark with the Scholtz 22, now an established one design class, and with the Sudar, conceived as an alternative to the H-boat. The Scholtz 8.8 builds on the Sudar hull with a stern about 80 centimetres longer. The boats show their lake origins: slim hulls, generous cockpits and rigs made for light air.
Our records list nine models, three sailing boats and six sailing yachts. The Scholtz 22 comes as Daysailer, Touring and Racing, the Scholtz 8.8 as Day Sailer and Weekender, the Sudar as Klassik and Regatta, joined by the Scholtz 32 and the Scholtz 34+2. The Sudar Regatta has the earliest build year, 1991, and seven models run into the latest build years. Lengths go from 6.8 metres for the Scholtz 22 Daysailer and Touring to 10.75 metres for the Scholtz 34+2.
The Scholtz 22 and the Sudar are easy to tow and slip, so they travel to regattas on other lakes and spend winter in a shed. The 32 and 34+2 are berth boats for weekends and short cruises. On inland water a boat tarpaulin and a dry winter store keep deck fittings and woodwork in shape.
