Worth knowing
Sunship; cover, cost and conditions
A sailing yacht by the name of Doug Peterson 1/2-Ton forms the only recorded range, built from 1972 to 1979. Nothing more is on record about the programme. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and small series and self-built boats can also be insured.
For a yacht of these years the agreed value carries the cover. The full hull cover pays compensation with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff without an age limit, and covers collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts. The basis remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.
What counts for the premium is the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range, never the brand. Club races are included from Basis-Plus onwards; races with scoring status are to be declared when taking out the policy. Cover also applies in winter storage, during craning and during launching.

Series by Sunship, build years and cover
Doug Peterson 1/2-Ton is a sailing yacht from Sunship, built from 1972 to 1979.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
