Swiss Catamaran Concept goes back to the Swiss businessman Jörg von Ins. He set out to buy a cruising catamaran for himself, found nothing that sailed fast and still suited long voyages, and so had his own boat developed. The Swiss designer Sébastien Schmidt drew the lines. The brand's first catamarans, the S2C 55 among them, were built under contract by a yard in Turkey. In early 2016 von Ins took over a yard at Balaruc-les-Bains on the Étang de Thau near Montpellier, which had previously built Switch catamarans, and the brand now trades as Swisscat. Construction is epoxy and glass sandwich with unidirectional carbon, laid up by infusion and post-cured in a dedicated insulated room.
