Warlock; cover, cost and conditions
Warlock is a builder of sporty offshore boats from California. The US Coast Guard manufacturer register lists Team Warlock Inc in Corona, California, and valuation guides describe Warlock as a maker of fast boats with V hulls and catamaran hulls. Accounts of when the company started do not agree, so we leave that out. The number in each name is close to the length in feet, and the line names tell the hull apart: SXT Cat and Sport Cat for catamarans, Sport Tunnel for the tunnel hull, WCO and Euro Offshore for the V hulls.
Our records list twelve Warlock models: three motorboats (21 SXT Cat, 22 Sport Tunnel, 23 WCO) and nine motor yachts. Build years fall between 1988 and 1998, with the 22 Sport Tunnel ending in 1995. Four models belong to the SXT Cat line (21, 25, 28 and 31), three to the WCO line (23 WCO, 26 WCOE, 28 WCO) and two to Euro Offshore (24 and 32). The 11.4 metre 38 Sport Cat, the 22 Sport Tunnel and the Warlock 68 complete the list. Lengths run from 6.4 metres (21 SXT Cat) to 20.68 metres (Warlock 68); without the 68 the range tops out at 11.4 metres.
These boats were built to go fast, and age has not changed that. Every Warlock is now more than twenty-five years old, so engines, drives and steering deserve a thorough check before the season. Catamaran hulls need even weight distribution to run cleanly. Most owners trailer the smaller models to lakes and coastal runs, and keep them dry under a tarpaulin between outings.
