World Cat; cover, cost and conditions
World Cat builds power catamarans in North Carolina. The brand started in 1998 with its first boat from Greenville, production moved to Tarboro from 2001 and has stayed there. In 2009 World Cat took over the Glacier Bay and Livingston catamaran brands, which is why some models carry the Glacier Bay Edition name. You recognise the boats by two slim hulls with a tunnel between them, a wide, almost rectangular deck and usually two outboards, one per hull. The number gives roughly length in feet times ten, the letters the layout: CC for centre console, DC for dual console, HT for hardtop and a trailing X for the newer large models.
Our model records list 36 World Cat models, all recorded as power catamarans. Build years run from 2003 into current production; the 250, 270 and 330 TE form a first generation up to 2012, while the 230, 255, 280, 295 and 320 shape the years after. Lengths run from 2.7 to 12.1 metres, half of them between 7.9 and 9.8 metres. At the small end are the LV models from 2.7 to 5.6 metres built 2012 to 2018, at the top the 400 CC-X, DC-X and TE-X at 12.1 metres.
On a power catamaran the beam decides a lot: whether the boat travels on a trailer or stays on a mooring, and which cranes and sheds can take it. Two outboards also mean two engines to record and two to secure on the transom.

As the World Cat 230 DC, World Cat 230 SD,
World Cat 235 CC by World Cat and 9 more series are still in production,
parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the Word Cat 2770 Cuddy Cabin Glacier Bay Edition, World Cat 230 CC,
World Cat 295 DC by World Cat and 20 more series the market value and the replacement cost often
differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the World Cat 230 DC, World Cat 230 SD, World Cat 235 CC by World Cat and further series:
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part,
and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
