Yapluka is a French yard from Caen in Normandy, founded in 1999. It built sailing catamarans for long-distance cruising and charter, in composite or aluminium depending on the order, and largely laid out to each owner's wishes. The boats pair generous volume with shallow draft, which opens up shallow anchorages. Larger types such as the aluminium Yapluka 72 of 2005 were explicitly meant for open-ocean passages. No new boats are being built today, so these catamarans now change hands on the brokerage market. A Yapluka is recognised less by a uniform production look than by the mix of size, custom build and long-range intent.
