Agapi Boating AB; cover, cost and conditions

Agapi Boating is a Swedish brand based at Biskopsudden Marina in Stockholm. Its boats are drawn by the Swedish designer Håkan Södergren and built at a plant in Poland with a long record of producing GRP craft for demanding use in Baltic waters. The idea is a RIB with a proper cabin: a lightweight sandwich hull, an inflatable collar and, on the larger models, a carbon-fibre T-top over the helm. Convertible furniture lets a crew sleep aboard even on the compact boats, and the cockpit seating can be turned into extra berths under a canvas top.

Our model records list four designs, two filed as motorboats and two as rigid inflatables. The range starts with the Agapi 750 IB, an inboard version, and the Agapi 750 OB with an outboard, both 7.76 metres long and listed from 2010 to 2018. The Agapi 800 grew out of the 750, adds only a few centimetres at 7.8 metres and spans build years 2014 to 2022. The flagship is the Agapi 950 at ten metres, listed from 2012, and it is the only line that carries on into the most recent build years. Every model therefore sits between just under eight and ten metres.

A sandwich hull with an inflatable collar asks for a slightly different routine than a plain GRP boat. The tubes want regular checks at seams and glued joints, and a summer of strong sun takes its toll if the boat sits in the open without a tarpaulin. Carbon parts such as the T-top are light and stiff, but impact damage is not always visible, so it is worth looking for fine cracks near the mounting points. Many owners trail their boat between cruising areas, which puts the trailer, the winch and the hull pads on the checklist as well. On a used 750 or 800, ask for the engine log and the history of the tubes, since those are the parts that age first.
