Albemarle Sportfishing Boats; cover, cost and conditions
Albemarle Sportfishing Boats is based in Edenton, North Carolina. Its founder, Joseph Scott Harrell, sold Ford tractors and fished out of Hatteras Village, where he found that the rough water tore apart most of the trailer boats on offer. In 1978 he answered with the first Albemarle 24, a trailerable fishing boat meant to take a beating offshore and still ride dry. By the late eighties the yard was building a series of deep-V fishing boats. Brunswick bought the brand in 2005 and sold it in 2009 to an investor from North Carolina, and in 2015 Albemarle joined forces with Carolina Classic. Building still happens at the original Edenton plant, with express, convertible and centre console boats in the Carolina style.
Our model records list 17 designs, eleven classed as motorboats and six as motor yachts, with build years from 2007. The XF series counts seven designs: the 280, 290, 310, 330, 360 and 410 XF plus the 288 OBXF. Six of them are listed from 2007 to 2017, the 410 XF up to 2015. The Express series has six designs from the 25 to the 41, the Dual Console line two with the 27 and the 31, and the 41 Convertible and the 410 C complete the list. Lengths range from 8.3 metres for the 280 XF to 13.3 metres for the two 41s. Five designs reach the latest build years: the 25, 32 and 36 Express and the 27 and 31 Dual Console. The 27, 29 and 41 Express are listed up to 2021.
A sportfisherman spends its life running hard to the fishing grounds, and the hull and deck show the miles. On a used Albemarle, look at the transom, the cockpit sole and the fish boxes for soft spots and cracked gelcoat. Tower, outriggers and their mountings take heavy loads in a seaway and should be checked for corrosion and loose fasteners. Engine hours matter more than the build year, and a sea trial at cruising speed tells you how the drivetrain has been treated. The electronics on boats like these are often upgraded more than once, so check what is installed and whether the wiring was done neatly.

production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable.

Albemarle 41 Express by Albemarle Sportfishing Boats and 9 more series the market value and the
replacement cost often differ widely.

For the Albemarle 25 Express, Albemarle 27 Dual Console,
Albemarle 32 Express by Albemarle Sportfishing Boats and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the Albemarle 31 Dual Console, Albemarle 36 Express,
Albemarle 41 Express by Albemarle Sportfishing Boats and further series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
