Atlantis Marine builds motorboats on Guernsey in the Channel Islands, from a base at Castel. According to the boating press the yard has been producing offshore boats between 16 and 26 feet for more than twenty years. They share a deep-vee hull with large reverse chines intended to give a smooth, dry ride, and a fine entry with more hull surface further forward so the bow does not drop into a wave in rough water. The 20CC centre console has a glassfibre hull. An Atlantis is recognised by its high freeboard, clean lines and a cockpit laid out to leave as much open floor as possible.
Our model records hold two designs, both listed as motorboats and both 7.9 metres long, which is exactly the 26 feet at the top of the yard's range. The Atlantis Marine 26C and 26CC are each listed for build years 2009 to 2017. In boatbuilding CC usually stands for centre console, a helm you can walk all the way round; what the plain C refers to, our records do not say. Neither design reaches into the most recent build years. Smaller boats such as the 16 cc and the 20CC are built by the yard as well but do not appear in our records. At just under eight metres the 26 is the largest boat in the range and is meant for trips further offshore.
A deep-vee hull with reverse chines takes a lot of load when it slams through steep seas, so on a used Atlantis look for stress cracks in the gelcoat around the bow and at the transom. Check the console mounting and the deck fittings, which can work loose on boats run hard in short chop. If an outboard is fitted, the transom and its bracket deserve a close look, along with the engine's service record and hours. Boats used in tidal waters are often launched and hauled out on slipways in a running current, so inspect the trailer rollers, the winch and the keel band for wear.
