Comitti is a boatyard on Lake Como in northern Italy. Mario Comitti founded it in 1956, his son Elia ran it until 2003, and new owners then relaunched the brand. Comitti builds classic style runabouts: open motorboats modelled on the American wooden boats that have cruised the Italian lakes for generations. Today's hulls are fibreglass, finished with mahogany or teak. You recognise a Comitti by the amount of varnished wood and by the naming. The main line is called Venezia, the number gives the length in feet, and Classic, Elegance, Sport or Wooden names the version.

Our model records list 29 Comitti models, 19 motorboats and ten units classed as motor yachts. Build years run from 2002 to 2027, and 17 models are still in production. Lengths range from 5.5 to 11.8 metres, with half of them between 7.5 and 9.9 metres. The Venezia comes in five sizes: the 22 at 6.5 metres, the 25 at 7.5, the 28 at 8.7, the 31 at 9.9 and the 34 at 10.5, or 11.8 metres as the Elegance Spider. The Venezia 31 Classic is offered in mahogany or teak. Smaller models are named after Riviera towns, the Alassio at 5.5 metres, the Sanremo at 6.5 and the Portofino at 7.5, alongside the Isola 27 and 33 and the Limousine.

A Comitti is a boat for lake afternoons, aperitivo runs along the Riviera and a turn or two on water skis. Varnished mahogany and teak need care, so the state of the wood and finish, the engine's hours and the quality of upholstery and covers matter most to a boat's value.
