Cover is listed in our records as a builder of small motorboats, and its model names lead to the Ligurian coast: Portovenere is a town, Palmaria an island and Maralunga a bay on the Gulf of La Spezia, joined by the Francesca. The figure after the name is the length in metres, so the Portovenere 4.80 measures 4.8 metres, the Maralunga 5.70 5.7 metres and the Francesca 6.70 6.7 metres. A Cover today is anything from just over ten to more than thirty years old, and at up to 6.7 metres it is still easy to move by road. Before the season, check the transom and engine mounting, the steering cables and the fuel system, and give the gelcoat a polish. Boats used for anchoring in rocky coves benefit from a look at the keel line and bow after each summer.
