Gekko is an American name in watersports tow boats, built for wakeboarding and waterskiing. Mark Overbye founded the company in 1994, and its boats pulled riders at tournaments around the world, including championship events. The business later closed for a time. In July 2013 Overbye bought back its assets and had the new models built by Ebbtide Boats in White Bluff, Tennessee. The range used two layouts. The Revo boats have a V-drive, which places the engine near the stern and puts weight aft for a bigger wake, while the 22 GTR and GTS 20 use direct drive with the engine amidships, the classic arrangement for a flat ski wake. The Revo 6.7 came with a wakeboard tower as standard.

The two Revo models span 2012 to 2019, the longest run in the range. A tow boat lives a hard life: full throttle starts, heavy ballast and a crowd on board every summer weekend. On a used Gekko the engine hours matter more than the build year, so ask for the service record and look for signs of overheating or water in the oil. Ballast pumps and bags should fill and drain properly, and the hull around the ballast tanks deserves a look for stress cracks. The tower takes big loads from the rope, so check its mounting points and the deck beneath them. Upholstery and the sound system suffer from sun and spray. Tow boats usually travel to the lake on a trailer, so the brakes, bearings and tyres of the trailer belong on the checklist as well.
