Gregor builds welded aluminium boats in California, at Fresno in the San Joaquin valley. The house has been working since 1964, when it brought out a boat whose hull was fully welded and therefore free of rivets; the welding method developed for it was patented by the founder. What it builds are angling boats for fresh and salt water and workboats. You recognise them by the plain angular shape made from flat plate, the flat or slightly deadrise bottom and the low topsides with a rubbing strake running all the way round.

Welded aluminium dents where fibreglass cracks, and a dent across a weld is a repair rather than a cosmetic matter. It is also light for its strength, which is the reason these boats can be shallow and still take a heavy outboard: a hull that weighs little floats high, and floating high is the whole point when the bottom is close.
