Hírös Yacht is a Hungarian company based in Lajosmizse near Kecskemét that offers motor and fishing boats under the short name HY, alongside boats from other yards and outboard engines. That is why a few models carry a second maker's name, such as the HY 445 Terhi. The naming follows its own logic: from the HY 445 to the HY 830 the number gives the approximate length in centimetres, so an HY 520 is about 5.2 metres. On the larger cabin boats from the HY 240 to the HY 330 the figure is length in feet times ten, and two digit names such as HY 19 Open give the length in feet.
Our model records list 38 Hiros Yachts models, 25 motorboats and 13 recorded as motor yachts. Build years start in 2012 and most lines run into current production, while a few such as the HY 22 Nordic ended around 2019. Lengths run from 3.2 to 10.2 metres, with half of all models between 5.2 and 7.1 metres. The range splits into open fishing boats like the HY 5.0 Fish Pro and the KingFisher line, walkaround models from 5.6 to 9 metres, the Cabin Sport series and cabin cruisers such as the HY 330 Sport Cruiser.
The two halves of the range lead different lives. The open boats up to about six metres travel on a trailer, so the ramp and the winter shed are part of their year, and the outboard is often a large share of the value. The cabin boats from eight metres tend to stay on a mooring for the season, where weather and the berth matter more than the road.
